Benefits of using PCR

PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastic refers to materials recovered from end-of-life consumer products such as packaging, household items, electronics, and automotive components. In contrast, PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled) plastic is derived from manufacturing waste—including sprues, off-spec products, and production scraps—which are recycled directly within industrial facilities. The key distinction lies in the source and volume: PCR represents a significantly larger waste stream originating from daily consumer activities. Without systematic recycling, post-consumer plastics contribute extensively to annual environmental pollution. Adopting PCR materials effectively addresses this challenge by supporting circular economy principles and reducing landfill waste.

Furthermore, regulatory frameworks worldwide are increasingly favoring the adoption of PCR plastics. For instance, the UK’s Plastic Packaging Tax imposes a levy of £200 per ton on packaging containing less than 30% recycled content. Similarly, in China, corporate social responsibility mandates require large enterprises to integrate sustainable materials, prompting both domestic and international brands to prioritize PCR plastics in their manufacturing processes.
