Growing awareness of plastic pollution’s impact on ecosystems and human health has accelerated global efforts to reduce plastic consumption. A significant concern is marine plastic pollution—current estimates indicate that approximately 150 million tons of plastic reside in ocean environments, with an additional 8 million tons added each year. Without intervention, plastics could outweigh marine fish by 2050.

In response, the European Union has mandated that by 2025, plastic products must contain at least 25% PCR content. Such policies are driving brands to adopt recycled materials not only to comply with regulations but also to meet consumer demand for sustainable products. Using PCR plastic reduces waste, conserves resources, decreases reliance on virgin fossil fuels, and supports a circular economy.
